Teletherapy
How do I know if teletherapy is right for me?
Contact us for a 30 minute phone consultation. A speech-language pathologist will follow up with you to set up a session via our web-based platform. This session is designed to answer any questions pertaining to evaluations, therapy, and the provision of services through teletherapy.
How do I get started?
To begin services, we require that each participant have a recent speech-language evaluation on file. We will accept outside evaluations from other providers, but we can also conduct evaluations through our web-based platform. If an initial evaluation is required, please contact us for a 30 minute consultation prior to making arrangements for services.
Therapy will begin following receipt or completion of an initial evaluation and collection of case history. These early steps are integral to generating a personalized plan of care that fits your needs as a whole. Therapy should be crafted to fit your lifestyle, not just a moment of your day.

How long do teletherapy sessions last?
Sessions will always be tailored to each client, therefore scheduling of sessions will be discussed on a case-by-case basis, and can change throughout the course of therapy given current needs. Sessions can vary in duration (number of minutes) or frequency (times per week versus times per month). Scheduling of sessions will be discussed following receipt or completion of an initial evaluation and will be reviewed and updated periodically throughout treatment.
How do I know if I am making progress with teletherapy sessions?
Feedback is necessary for growth, both for therapy participants and their therapists! We will consistently document and archive data from sessions. Documentation from treatment will be released to the therapy participant upon written request. Progress will always be reviewed within sessions. If appropriate, re-evaluations can be conducted. Participants are encouraged to share how treatment is supporting functioning beyond therapy sessions (with friends, family, co-workers), as the goal of treatment is to apply strategies beyond our screen-time! Plans of care will be updated to fit participant needs as treatment progresses.
Am I or a family member a good candidate for teletherapy?
- Teletherapy is a wonderful means to supplement or substitute in-person therapeutic services for various reasons, but everyone is not an ideal candidate. Factors to consider include:
- Physical or sensory characteristics - hearing, visual acuity, fine motor abilities, endurance
- Cognition, motivation, behavior - level of cognitive functioning, ability to attend and engage for periods of time, willingness to receive services remotely
- Communication - comprehension, literacy level, intelligibility of speech, cultural/linguistic factors, use of an interpreter
- Support resources - access to technology, appropriate environment conducive to therapy, ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- If you are still unsure whether teletherapy is a viable option for you or a family member, please consider a 30 minute consultation for further insight.
What are the benefits of teletherapy?
- Services are equivalent to those offered in-person
- Convenient scheduling to fit busy lives
- Reduces need to travel for high quality therapy, which is often impacted by location, physical, or financial constraints
- Services are received in an participant's most natural setting, which promotes better carryover of skills than if seen in a clinic
- Improves quality of care and can enhance quality of life
